The question of whether the nominee for SedDef has a drinking problem is a legitimate issue. Abuse of alcohol negatively affects performance in all manner of ways–health, temperment, and rationality among them. If there is any evidence that a candidate for a top U.S. Secretarial positions has a problem, it should be addressed by the Congress and it should be a factor in evaluating the nomination. Recovery rates and relapse rates from drinking problems are well documented and they are not encouraging. To ignore this issue is wreckless.

This must be a Democrat, that is upset that “Give Away” Joe wasn’t re-elected. “Give Away” Joe put this country in further debt because of all his “Give Aways”.

Your wild speculations on the dead certainty of Pete Hegseth’s hellish descent into all the excesses of alcoholism do an egregious disservice, not only to the nominee, but to all those who have have made successful recoveries and to those who helped. Don’t be blinded by your tragic and personal but anecdotal experience. Recovery rates for those who have stopped drinking for two years or more are above 50%.

Hegseth has plenty of other vulnerabilities to merit serious questioning; leave alcoholism out of it.
